About the tour

The Rietveld Schröder House is a World Heritage Site in Utrecht. Virtually everything is still in its original state. We work hard to keep it that way. For this reason, you can only visit the house during set timeslots and in small groups.

The multimedia tour

Upon showing your ticket at the ticket desk, you will receive a media player. The media players are disinfected before and after each use. A headset is not required since the media players have a built-in speaker. However, you can connect your own headset if you prefer to use one. In order to do so, your headset must have a mini-jack.

Let the multimedia tour guide you through and around the house and the stories hidden behind these walls. On the ground floor you may roam through the rooms on your own, however please refrain from touching anything. Upstairs a trained guide will give a live demonstration. Please follow instructions from our staff.

Discover the house via own smartphone

Do you prefer to use your own device? No problem! The tour is also available online. Upon arrival, simply scan the QR code on the ticket desk and you are ready to go. Don't forget to bring your headphones. You do need internet connection for this.

Live demonstration

Once you arrive upstairs, you'll be accompanied by a guide who will point out all the clever solutions Rietveld incorporated into the house, such as the sliding walls, the corner window and convertible beds. If you want to see inside any of the cabinets, please ask a staff member. Please refrain from touching anything yourself as the house is very fragile.
