This is what you can expect from your visit to the Rietveld Schröder House.
With the included multimedia tour, you'll get the most out of your visit to the Rietveld Schröder House. Sound clips bring the house and the stories of its namesakes Gerrit Rietveld and Truus Schröder to life.
Welcome to the Rietveld Schröder House
We recommend arriving 5 to 10 minutes prior to your reserved time slot. This gives you enough time to have your ticket scanned and store your personal belongings in one of the (free) lockers. Please check in at the Ticket Office, located on the left side of the Rietveld Schröder House. Our staff will be happy to welcome you there and hand you a media player as well as a brief explanation of the tour.
Start of the tour
After collecting your media player from the Ticket Office, your tour begins outside with an introduction of the exterior and surroundings.
Once you've finished the first audio clip, you'll continue the tour inside where you'll receive protective slippers to wear over your shoes. On the ground floor, you're free to explore the rooms independently. Upstairs, a trained guide is present to highlight clever design features that Rietveld and Schröder integrated into the home, such as the sliding walls and distinctive corner window.
The tour takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes in total.
If you're curious to see how a feature functions or unfolds, feel free to ask one of our staff members for assistance. Please refrain from touching anything yourself, as the majority is still in their original state and therefore fragile.
During the tour
Throughout the tour, we kindly ask that you follow the guidance of our staff at all times. To preserve this century-old heritage site, please avoid touching objects or leaning against any surfaces. Photography for personal use is allowed, as long as you do not use flash and ensure that staff members are not visibly identifiable in your photo's without their permission. Our staff reserve the right to invoke their portrait rights at any time.
After the tour
After completing the tour, please return the media player to the Ticket Office. Feel free to browse the museum shop, where you'll find a curated selection of books, souvenirs and unique Rietveld Schröder House merchandise. Behind the shop, there's a viewing room where a documentary abou the house plays continuously. Feel free to ask our staff members about the documentary. Before you leave, don't forget to retrieve your personal belongings from the locker again.

About the multimedia tour
The multimedia tour is included in your ticket and can be collected at the Ticket Office. All media players are disinfected before and after each use. There's no need fora headset, as the device has a built-in speaker. However, if you prefer, you're welcome to use your own headphones or earphones provided they have a mini jack connection. Headphones are also available at the Ticket Office upon request.
Follow the tour via your own smartphone
Prefer using your own smartphone? That's no problem! A mobile version of the tour is available. Simply scan the QR code available at the Ticket Office checkout desk.
Languages
The multimedia tour is available in Dutch, English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin and Dutch Sign Language.
Audio clips in all languages are also available as written text via the web application on your own smartphone.
