Centraal Museum & Rietveld Schröder House
The Centraal Museum Foundation manages the Rietveld Schröder House and the entire Rietveld Schröder Archive. The Centraal Museum also has the largest Rietveld collection in the world.
Stichting Rietveld Schröderhuis
In 1970,Truus Schröder established the Rietveld Schröder House Foundation to preserve the building for future generations. When she passed away in 1985, ownership ofthe house was passed onto this foundation. After a large scale restoration, the foundation transferred the management of the house to the Centraal Museum in Utrecht. To this day, Centraal Museum is responsible for opening up the historic house and its heritage to the public and for its preservation. In 1987, the Rietveld Schröder House first opened its doors to the public. In 2000, it was added to the Unesco World Heritage List.
Rietveld Schröderarchief
Naast het beheer van de woning, krijgt het museum ook de opdracht om het complete Rietveld Schröderarchief te beheren en behouden. Het archief, samengesteld door Truus Schröder, omvat 2.000 tekeningen, 2.000 afbeeldingen, 3.800 brieven en allerlei teksten en ander documentatiemateriaal van Rietveld en Schröder. Vrijwel alle archiefstukken zijn gedigitaliseerd. Browse door het archief.
World's largest Rietveld Collection
The Centraal Museum is home to the largest Rietveld collection in the world,consisting of more than 250 furnishings and other objects, including mock-ups and scale models. The museum's permanent collection, Collection Centraal, always features iconic chairs, drawings and models by Gerrit Rietveld and the Rietveld Schröder House.
